Hello, today am gonna tell you about the man in my life,My dad. He loooves khaki trousers ,he got countless of them in his wardrobe . Aint so sure if its fashion appropriate to have so many of one colored trousers, all the same I love it when he sports them. They are so versatile that he wears them to the office bringing out the business relaxed look. They look edgy when worn on a weekends, night out with friends ,casual dinners. Most men prefer wearing them with Blacks but Khaki pants pairing them up with a brown belt and shoes for a more fashionable look is preferable. Khaki is a MUST HAVE for all Men.Embrace Khaki !

Pep Up With PEPLUM

Peplum shirts, peplum jackets, peplum skirts ,peplum dresses are so in season and am one lady whose  gaga over this trend. For those who don’t know, Peplum is a short over skirt of raffle attached at the waistline of a dress ,skirt, shirt or even coat .
A peplum shirt , coat, top could be worn with a pair of jeans ,a pencil shirt ,shorts etc .Peplum comes in different prints, fabrics, floral, colors ,vertical and horizontal stripes and even polka dots.

Peplum is so trendy and sophisticated .One could clad it to the office and even to a night out. When wearing peplum one should be very  conscious of your body shape. Peplum looks good on petites and apple shaped women as it gives more emphasies to the hips. Ladies with the Hourglass figure would look good in it . It’s tricky for Pear shaped women, like me, to pull off this trend since it will exaggerate the hips. When wearng peplum ,a pearshaped lady should wear a top which will exaggerate the top half by concentrating on the shoulder to bring the visual illusion of fullness. A pear shape should  avoid contrasting colours and stripes to make it less eye catchy. Peplums can be worn to camouflage tummies or potbellies .This trend can be worn by women of all ages too.

Accessorize Peplum to bring out a touch of class with jewelry depending on the occasion.

Ladies, there is no doubt the peplum trend will spill over to 2013 , so wipe out the fear that it will be out of fashion next year and get a peplum dress, skirt, shirt ,coat or jacket for yourself. Am so getting one too coz it’s my style ,my life.

XOXO.

KITTEN HEELS.

A Kitten heel is a short slender heel of an approximately 1.5 inches or 3.5 centimeters.
This kind of heel is uncommon among the 20-something Kenyan lady, but should be a must have in every woman’s shoe rack…Kitten heels come in Pumps, knee or  ankle boots and sandals .They have been often regarded as the ugly step-sister of the heels family but I view them as a blessing in disguise. I mean they are the most comfy of all heels. These are the type of heels that you can walk the whole length of Kenyatta  and Moi avenues without tiring. That is, for those Nairobi  ladies who aint used to the 12-inches heels just yet. Kitten heels is a blessing too , to taller ladies as they can be worn without accentuating their height more. They are trainer heels too for teens or ladies learning to balance higher heels.
Apparently, I prefer the kitten heel sandal to the pump or the boot. They modish and can be an alternative to my routine flat sandals .I can wear them without having to carry an extra pair of sandals in my handbag.

Give me your take on kitten heels ladies, would you wear them or not?

MY STYLE,MY LIFE.

THE OTTOMAN;GIFT FROM THE TURKS.

Ola ,good people!
Today, I came across a fascinating piece of furnishing that I thought I could share with you. It’s called an OTTOMAN.
An ottoman is piece of furniture like a large box with an upholstered top.
Most Kenyans are not familiar with this type of furniture but must have heard the name Ottoman from their history classes back in Primary school. Just to recap, The Ottoman Empire was an empire created by the Turks back in the late 13th Century and latest to early 18th Century. Apparently, this type of furniture has its origins from this empire which was a  central piece of the family settings among the Turks. However, it has revolutionized over the years from a piece of fitted furniture to a circular or rectangular or octagonal shape  portable furniture in the 19th Century.
An ottoman can be used as a footstool, coffee table or even a seat in living rooms.
However, when using it as coffee table consider a material that can be easily be wiped clean easily, like leather. For footstools, the upholstered top should be removable for constant laundry.
Some are hollow and can be used as a hidden storage for items making them essential in almost every room in the house from the kid’s bedroom to the dressing room.
Moreover, clubs and entertainment spots as benches for lounges.

Ottomans in Kenya can be bought in Mimosa furniture,Westlands and other major furniture stores in Nairobi. You can also have your local carpenter to custom make one for you .That way you can have your tastes and preferences considered. You can use a wide range of fabrics, color, shape and also wild  prints.

An ottoman, one with zebra prints, for my living room is a must have .Coz it’s My Style, My Life.

XOXO.
